This study is a collaboration between three members of GC-IHES: the Center for International Higher Education (Boston College), the Center for Research on Educational Policy and Practice (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile), and the Center for Higher Education Internalisation (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore). The first phase of the project (2015-2016) explored the relationship between the Catholic identity of these three institutions and their internationalization strategies. It concluded successfully on 2016, and the results are already available at CIHE’s Perspectives N°3.
This initiative was funded by a Luksic Foundation grant created to stimulate international cooperation. Recently, the project was awarded with an extension for period 2016-2017, in order to expand the number of case studies to other regions of the world. This second phase will broaden the scope of the study, allowing for a comparative examination of internationalization in the Catholic higher education context.
In January of 2016 the GC-IHES network was formally launched. Through a first meeting in Santiago de Chile, representatives from each of the founding centers gathered to discuss the new center´s mission and future collaboration within the founding centers.
